I love this easy and simple style of my new Turtleneck Cowl. 

A super soft, absolutely easy and beautiful Turtle Neck COWL pattern is here for you! 

This crochet pattern is an easy, beginner friendly project that works up faster than you’d think!

I use amazing chunky yarn SUPERLANA MAXI. I really love this love, it wool-acrylic chunky yarn and there are more then 30 colors balls for your choice.

I already used this yarn for the TURTLENECK PONCHO and the WARM WINTER BEANIE HAT with a BIG POMPOM. 

You can make this COWL with or without HOOD. How to make a HOOD you will find in my next video tutorial. The TURTLE NECK COWL HOODIE free pattern is great for practicing single and half double crochets and working in back loops. But you don’t have to be a beginner to love this TurtleNeck COWL Hoodie. It’s one of those patterns that’s good for anyone whether you’re making it for yourself, a family member, or selling it at a craft fair! 

It’s a super easy project and it’s my fave – a nice simple color and chunky yarn that goes perfectly with every coat.

Crochet TRENDY TURTLE NECK COWL HOODIE Construction

TURTLE NECK HOODIES are my favorite kinds of HOODED COWLS to make because they work up quickly and they are absolutely beautiful in every color. It looks like it could be complicated, but it’s really simple and never disappoints.

In fact, this TURTLE NECK HOODIE works up so quickly that I bet you could have one of these finished within a few hours. Yes, even if you’re a beginner!

The main body of this HOODIE is created from a RECTANGLE with A HOOD. 

So let me now get started and tell you what you will need in order to crochet this amazing TURTLE NECK COWL HOODIE.

Crochet TRENDY TURTLE NECK COWL HOODIE - DIRECTIONS 

When trying to decide on a yarn for this hoodie I knew I wanted something warm and soft. I chose ALIZE SUPERLANA MAXI YARN.

For this S/M size you will need: ALIZE SUPERLANA MAXI. 
YARN: ALIZE SUPERLANA MAXI: 25 % wool + 75 % acrylic, 1 ball  = 100g / 100m

THE COWL AND TURTLE NECK: 3 balls
THE HOOD: 2 balls

For this pattern you will need 8.0 crochet hook.

Size: M / S size - this can easily be adapted to a smaller size or bigger size just by reducing or increasing the number of rows.

PATTERN NOTES:

1) Before you start take a measurement. Work the cowl and turtleneck part until you reach the measurement around the head - the neck-warmer should be easily slipped over head.

2) The direction shown are adult woman S/M size, but can be easily converted into bigger size or smaller size. Before we start crocheting, measure your size, length from the shoulders to the bottom - aroundthe arms. So that the cowl can be comfortably fastened under your arms. Crochet the foundation chain according to the measured circumference. If it fits snuggly then you can use this chain amount for your size.

3) A Ch 1, ch2 at beg of the row DOESN'T count as hdc throughout

4) There are 2 parts of this project:
A)        NeckWarmer Turtleneck Cowl
B)        Hood

This pattern can easily adapt to a smaller size or bigger size just by reducing or increasing the number of ch and rows for the hood and as well as making less or more chains for the cowl.

4) There are 2 parts = rectangles

This Crochet Turtleneck Cowl Hoodies is made of 2 parts panels (crocheted as a one part) – one is for the neckwarmer cowl and one is for the hood.

PART A) NECKWARMER COWL / TURTLE NECK - this is a seamless rectangle with turtleneck part
PART B) HOOD - this is a rectangle as well, we add the hood on this NECKWARMER COWL rectangle.

5) Part A - The neckwarmer cowl is crocheted in rows of short single crochets, the pattern is the same on the front and back side. Decide which side you like better and we will crochet the hood on that side.

6) Part B - the hood - is also crocheted in rows. Always starting with a ch2 or ch1, which does not count as a stitches. Alternate rows of half double crochets and slip stitches. Half double crochets crocheted on the front side, slip stitches on the wrong side.

7) This turtleneck cowl with a hood is really easy to crochet. It is enough to know how to crochet half double and single crochet BLO.

8) The direction shown are for S/M size but can be easily converted into bigger size or smaller size – just add more or less rows.

Abbreviations (US Crochet Terms):
SP - space
SlSt – slip stitch
CH/s – chain/s
SC - single crochet
HDC - half double crochet
DC - double crochet
SK - skip
T - turn
ST/s - stitch(es)
REP - repeat
YO – yarn over
BLO - back loop only
RS - right side
WS - wrong side

Special stitches used: sc in back loop only - the back loop is hidden under the front loop.

WRITTEN PATTERN
Crochet Hook 8.0 mm

PART A = THE COWL
Pick up the 8mm hook and let’s make a foundation chain loosely. 
Chain 40 chains.

Work in rows. 

Foundation Chain Measurement: 47 cm / 18.3 inch 

R1: ch1, 1sc din each ch 3rd loop (bump) till end of row, turn (40 sc)

R2: ch1, 1sc in each sc BLO till end of row, turn (40 sc)

Repeat row 2 till you are satisfied with the width of the shoulder part.

R3 – R8 repeat R2

R9: ch1, 1sc in the first 20 sc BLO (the half of row), ch24, turn (20 sc and ch24)

R10: ch1, 1sc in each ch 3rd loop till end of chain, then 1sc in each sc BLO till end of row, turn (44 sc)

R11: ch1, 1sc in each sc BLO till end of row, turn (44 sc)

Repeat row 11, till you are satisfied with the neckline width and the turtle neck width.

R12 - R34: repeat row R11

R35: ch1, 1sc in the first 20 sc BLO (the same lenght as on the opposite side), ch20, turn (20 sc and ch20)

R36: ch1, 1sc in each ch 3rd loop till end of chain, then 1sc in each sc BLO till end of row, turn (40 sc)

R37: ch1, 1sc in each sc BLO till end of row, turn (40 sc)

Repeat row 37 till you have the same width as on the opposite side.

R38 - R43: Repeat row 37

Last row – slip stitches row. Work 1 sl st in each st. Work on the right side. (40 sl st).

Work on the back part

R1: Re-join the new yarn in row R9 in the st, where we started the chain. Work in the chain and 1sc in each ch (24 sc), turn

R2: ch1, 1sc in each sc BLO till the st, where is the turtleneck (24 sc), then work 1sc in each sc BLO till end of row (20 sc), turn, (44 sc)

R3: ch1, 1sc in each sc BLO till end of row, turn (44 sc)

Repeat row R3, till you have the same number of row as on the front panel (25 rows).

R4 - R26: Repeat row R3.

The last row: join the side of the turtleneck together with sl st (24 sl st) and also join the cowl sides together (20 sl st).

Fasten off your work and hide all loose tails.

THE TURTLE NECK COWL PART IS DONE!
The cowl measures:

The Length of cowl: 22 cm

The total length: 49 cm

The width: 48 cm

The width of turtleneck: 30 cm

The length of turtleneck: 27 cm
