Crochet on the Go: Fan Pattern Scarf Christie
Hello My Crochet Friends!
I absolutely love crocheting scarves from just one ball of yarn, especially with a simple, repeating pattern. Nothing complicated—so I can pop the ball in a project bag, carry it in my purse, and crochet whenever I find a moment.
I mostly crocheted this scarf while traveling, making my journeys on the bus, subway, plane, and in waiting rooms much more enjoyable. It's the perfect traveling companion!
I used a simple, airy fan pattern for the scarf, repeating just 2 rows, using only basic stitches—chain stitches, single and double crochet stitches. For this project, I chose Christie yarn, a beautiful mottled yarn with colors that smoothly transition through four threads. I picked a lovely combination of black, gray, pink, and white, and I'm thrilled with how the color tones change on the scarf.
This all-year scarf can be worn anytime, whether as an accessory or for warmth. The pattern is perfect for beginners. Let's start crocheting together and create something beautiful!

ENDING AROUND THE SCARF
We continue to crochet. We crochet on the right side.
End the last row by repeating row R3 - a row of double crochets.
Crochet the same pattern - 5-chains spaces and 5ds fans - downwards along the side:
finish the row with 5dc in the 3rd ch (instead of 3ds as we crocheted before), 1 sc in the chain space, ch5, skip the row (3dc at the beginning of the row), 1 sc in the next chain space, 5ds in the next row (in a row with 3ds at the beginning of the row), repeat until the end of the side of the scarf.
In the corner, crochet a single crochet into the 1st chain of the foundation chain, turn the work and now crochet along the foundation chain from the opposite side: 5dc to the middle of the chain space, i.e., into the 4th chain, skip 2 chains, 1 sc into the next sl, 5 chains, skip 5 chains, 1 sc to the next st, skip 2 chains, 5dc to the next st, skip 2 chains, 1sc to the next st to the end of the row.
We turn the work, crochet along the side upwards: ch5, 1 sc into the chain space, 5dc into the next row (into the row with 3 dc at the beginning of the row), 1 sc into the chain space, ch5, 1 sc into the chain space, repeat until the end of the row.
End the row with 2ds into ds, where we have already crocheted 3ds. In total, you have a group of 5ds and we will finish the row with 1 sl st in the 3rd chain.
Cut the yarn and fasten off.
