Crochet Fancy Turtle Neck Cowl Cake Silver

2023-03-03

Hello My Crochet Friends and Crochet Lovers!

When trying to decide on a yarn for this TURTLE NECK HOODED COWL, I knew I wanted something elegant and cheerful as well and I chose Papatya Silver Cake yarn!

There are so so many colors combinations for choosing, the colors are bright and shiny, the yarn has lurex yarn and my new TURTLE NECK HOODED COWL is so cheerful and it looks so playful!

It’s still winter time, my friends – let’s grab a cup of coffee, cozy up and let’s get started to make this amazing TURTLE NECK COWL pattern!

img_5510.jpeg

This TURTLE NECK HOODED COWL is made of 2 parts (crocheted as a one part) – one is for the cowl and one is for the hood.

The Size Small this can easily be adapted to a smaller size or bigger size just by reducing or increasing the number of rows for the cowl and as well as making less or more rows for the hood.

This crocheted TURTLE NECK HOODED COWL pattern is so practical and fun to make. And it is a perfect from Fall to Spring time – there is still a bit cold in morning, your head will be toasty thanks to the hood. And moreover, this is a trendy wear item. I really love that hooded style on my cowl and I’m so pleased with how it turned out!

The great thing about this my new pattern is: wearing with or without hood - it can be worn wherever you need some warmth.

When I chose the pattern for this TURTLE NECK HOODED COWL I knew I had to make a COWL with simple pattern but add something modern and extras. I decided to use a bobble stitch on the COWL

I really love this 3D BOBBLE effect on the COWL and it so easy to create it.

It is the perfect crochet TURTLE NECK HOODED COWL for all crocheters - with very simple construction - great project for VERY beginners.

The pattern is available here below for free. It comes with a video guide as well.
Let’s get started to make this perfect pattern and have fun!

So let me now get started and tell you what you will need in order to crochet this TURTLE NECK HOODED COWL.

The pattern was made with yarn: PAPATYA CAKE SILVER

I used only ONE ball.
150 g/5.3 oz // 540 m/590 yrd, 95 % acrylic + 5 % polyester with lurex glitter yarn.

This is Luxurious acrylic yarn with lurex fibers, it’s so bright and elegant.
This yarn really affordable.

I absolutely love this yarn!

For this pattern you will need 4.0 mm crochet hook.

Scissors and tapestry needle and I would recommend you to use a tape measure.

TURTLE NECK HOODED COWL

Size: bellow there is a pattern for S size, the head measurement 20.5 inch / 53 cm

The TURTLE NECK HOODED COWL can easily be adapted to a smaller size or bigger size.

Difficulty Level: Level 1 – for Beginners

US crochet terms:

SlSt – slip stitch

CH/s – chain/s

SC - single crochet

DC - half double crochet

FPDC - front post double crochet

SK - skip

T - turn

ST/s - stitch(es)

REP - repeat

YO – yarn over

img_5533.jpeg

Special stitches:
BOBBLE STITCH

When crocheting the bobble stitch, we are pulling up a series of loops that we will then pull through all at once. Since the bobbles are worked on the “wrong” side of the work, this makes the stitch puff out on the opposite side of the work, making it into a little “bobble”.

1. Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through two. (This is essentially completing the first half of one double crochet stitch.)
2. Repeat step 1 in the same stitch/space until you have a total of 6 loops on your hook.
3. Yarn over, pull through all 6 loops at once.
4. Single crochet in next stitch.

Bobble made! Each bobble stitch is followed by single crochet because that will help that bobble really “pop” through to the other side.

CROCHET TURTLE NECK HOODED COWL - PATTERN NOTES

PATTERN NOTES
1) Pattern is worked beginning in the centre of the cowl and worked in turned rows to expand the size.
2) Close attention paid to increases at the beginning and end of each row are imperative.
3) Each long side of the triangle (and each row) should always have the same number of stitches
4) The direction shown are for SMALL size but can be easily converted into bigger size or smaller size – just by reducing or increasing the number of rows for the cowl and as well as making less or more rows for the hood.
5) A Ch2 at beg of the row DOESN'T count as dc throughout.
6) Each row starts: ch2, 3dc in first st
7) Each row ends: 3dc placed in last st
8) In each row, in the middle of cowl, there is a corner pattern: 2dc, ch2, 2dc placed in ch2 space from previous row

There are 3 parts of this project:
A)    Cowl
B)    Hood
C)    Drawstring

*Measurements are taken from the garment lying flat, before the yarn has stretched out/dropped.
