I love chenille yarns, they are so soft and fun to work with! There are so many different colors and also rainbow colors!

For this project I used my 2 colors - white yarn and mottled multicolored yarn, so you can create the two colors pattern of your SLEEPING CAT easily as per your choice and creativity. 

I really love this soft pillow and it so easy to create it. 

It is the perfect crochet SLEEPING CAT PILLOW for all crocheters - with very simple construction - great project for VERY beginners.

CROCHET SLEEPING CAT PILLOW MATERIALS AND DIRECTIONS:

This soft SLEEPING CAT PILLOW is very easy and super quick crochet project, you just need to know how to crochet single crochet stitch and how to increase.

So let me now get started and tell you what you will need in order to crochet this SLEEPING CAT PILLOW.

Beautiful, soft, velvet, chenille yarns. The yarns are great for crocheted cowls, hats, sweaters, vests, but they are also great for crocheted toys and amigurumi and also for blankets and afghans

This yarn really affordable.

For this pattern you will need 5.0 mm crochet hook.

Velvet plastic nose

Sewing/Embroidery and yarn needle/tapestry needle for sewing pieces together and weaving in ends

CROCHET SLEEPING CAT PILLOW 

Size: one size pillow 

Size can easily be adapted to a smaller size or bigger size, to shorter or longer, narrower or wider - all is up to your choice

Difficulty Level: Level 1 – Easy, for beginners

US crochet terms:

SlSt – slip stitch

CH/s – chain/s

SC - single crochet

SK - skip

T - turn

ST/s - stitch(es)

REP – repeat

This pattern requires familiarity with stitches used, attaching yarn, changing yarns and sewing parts together with a sewing needle.

CROCHET SLEEPING CAT PILLOW PATTERN NOTES

1) A ch1 at beg of the row DOESN'T count as a stitch

2) Magic ring = the starting point for crocheting in a spiral. Use which ever method you prefer.

3) Continuous rounds - EARS and BODY and TAIL parts are worked up in continuous rounds, which means that you will not be joining the last stitch of the round with the first one. Instead you will need to keep track of where each round started and how many stitches you have made because after each round you will continue right on to the stitches of the next round (with no join). It is useful to use a stitch marker or piece of yarn to mark the start or end of each round.

4) Working in rows - when you reach the end of row, chain, turn your work and continue working in stitches from the previous row.

5) ( ) – The number of stitches that should be in a completed round/row are placed in brackets at the end of that round’s/row’s instructions.

6) The SLEEPING CAT PILLOW is crocheted in rows, from the top to bottom, using single crochet stitches

7) This SLEEPING CAT PILLOW is worked up as a one piece, starting with a EARS on the top and finish on the bottom. You crochet a TAIL and sew it on the back of the pillow at the end.   

 43 cm / 16.7 inch tall with EARS

 29 cm / 11 inch tall

19 cm / 7.5 inch wide on the top / head 

 27 cm / 10.5 inch wide on the bottom

The tail: 50 cm / 19.7 inch long

The finished size will depend on what yarn you use, as well as your tension and hook (as with any amigurumi).

8) You can make the CROCHET SLEEPING CAT PILLOW bigger with a thicker yarn. 

9) There is some sewing: you will sew the tail on the body. This is easy to do, there are no tricks.

*Measurements are taken from the garment lying flat, before the yarn has stretched out/dropped. 

10) To finish the SLEEPING CAT PILLOW, you’ll join together the shorter sides on the bottom.

HOW TO CROCHET SLEEPING CAT PILLOW 

WRITTEN PATTERN

Note: A fabric measuring tape is useful here, since it’s more flexible than a ruler.

Crochet Hook 5 mm

Change color A and color B as per your fantasy. 

EARS

Ch1 at the beginning of round don't count as a stitch.

This part is worked in spiral rounds, without joining rounds. Do not join rounds.

EAR 1
Make a magic ring

R1: ch1, 3sc in magic ring (3sc)

R2: *2sc in each sc from R1 around* rep from * to * till end of round (6 sc)

R3: *1sc in next st, 2sc in next st * rep from * to * till end of round (9 sc)

R4: *1sc in each st around* rep from * to * till end of round (9 sc)

R5: *1sc in next 2 st, 2sc in next st * rep from * to * till end of round (12 sc)

R6: *1sc in next 2 st, 2sc in next st * rep from * to * till end of round (16 sc)

Cut the yarn, weave in the ends.

Repeat the pattern for the second EAR 2.

Don't cut the yarn and continue crocheting. 

R7: ch 5, then continue crocheting on EAR 1 and work *1sc in each st around* till end of round (ch5 + 16 sc) then work 1sc in each chain of the chain you created at the beginning till end of chain, then continue crocheting on EAR 2 (6sc + 16 sc)

R19: *1sc in each st around* rep from * to * till end of round (46 sc)

 

INCREASE ROW
R20: make increase on the right and on the left side of the CAT'S BODY then *1sc in each st around* till end of round (46 + 2 sc = 48 sc)

 

R21: *1sc in each st around* rep from * to * till end of round (48 sc)

 

INCREASE ROW
R22: make increase on the right and on the left side of the CAT'S BODY then *1sc in each st around* till end of round (48 + 2 sc = 50 sc)

 

R23: *1sc in each st around* rep from * to * till end of round (50 sc)

 

INCREASE ROW
R24: make increase on the right and on the left side of the CAT'S BODY then *1sc in each st around* till end of round (50 + 2 sc = 52 sc)

 

R25: *1sc in each st around* rep from * to * till end of round (52 sc)

 

INCREASE ROW
R26: make increase on the right and on the left side of the CAT'S BODY then *1sc in each st around* till end of round (52 + 2 sc = 54 sc)

ALL SIZES FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS:

Use the yarn tail and a darning needle and sew the bottom of the body, sew the tail in the middle of the last round, center the tail with the ears.

Cut the yarn, weave in the ends.

Lay your CROCHET SLEEPING CAT PILLOW  out and smooth down.
