So let me now get started and tell you what you will need in order to crochet this DOUBLE LAYER SIDE BASKET WITH WOODEN BASE.

Marcrame Chenille is quite strong braided twine yarn, very pleasant and very soft.
This yarn is perfect for crocheting accessories, home decorations, wall hangings, also for baskets, handbags and bags. 

One ball = 250 g, 150 m, classic chenille yarn, 100% microfiber

For this pattern you will need 4.5, 5.5 mm, 6 mm crochet hooks.

Scissors
Sewing/Embroidery and yarn needle/tapestry needle 

CROCHET DOUBLE LAYER SIDE BASKET WITH WOODEN BASE

Size: one size 

Difficulty Level: Level 1 – Easy, for beginners

US crochet terms:

SlSt – slip stitch
CH/s – chain/s
SC - single crochet
HDC - half double crochet
SK - skip
T - turn
ST/s - stitch(es)
REP – repeat

This pattern requires familiarity with stitches used and using invisible join when you work in closed rounds. 

Special technic: HALF BUBBLE STITCH =  Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over. Draw up a loop, you have now 2 loops on the hook. Yarn over, you now have 3 “loops” on your hook. Draw up a loop from the same stitch, you now have 4 loops on you hook. Yarn over, pull yarn through all 4 loops on hook, chain 1 to close stitch.

3RD LOOP: half double crochet stitches have a 3rd loop. The 3rd loop can be found just below the front loop on the side of the work that is facing you. Working in this special “3rd loop”, creates a nice braided look on the opposite side of the pattern.

PATTERN NOTES

1) A ch1 at beg of the row DOESN'T count as a stitch

2) Continuous rounds - some parts of this basket are worked up in continuous rounds, which means that you will not be joining the last stitch of the round with the first one. Instead you will need to keep track of where each round started and how many stitches you have made because after each round you will continue right on to the stitches of the next round (with no join). It is useful to use a stitch marker or piece of yarn to mark the start or end of each round.

3) CLOSED ROUNDS - some parts of this basket are worked in closed rounds, which means that you will be joining the last stitch of the round with the first one with a slip stitch. When you reach the beg of row, make a slip stitch on top of first stitch and then continue working in stitches from the previous round. I would recommend you to close the rounds with an invisible join to have a perfect baskets. 

4) ( ) – The number of stitches that should be in a completed round/row are placed in brackets at the end of that round’s/row’s instructions.

5) The CROCHET DOUBLE LAYERED SIDE BASKET WITH WOODEN BASE is crocheted with 2 patterns - one using half bobble stitch on the front side and one using single stitches on the inside side

HOW TO CROCHET DOUBLE LAYERED SIDE BASKET WITH WOODEN BASE

WRITTEN PATTERN

Crochet hook 4.0 mm

R1: work 1sc in each hole around, finish the row with an invisible join.

Crochet hook 5.5 mm

R2: for the LIT work this row – you will have a LIT a bit wider then the basket (one row wider)

ch1, 1sc in each st 3rd loop, finish the row with an invisible join.

Crochet hook 6 mm

R3: 1ks in each st 3rd loop and BLO around, finish the row with an invisible join.

R4 - R6: *1 quick bobble st in next st, skip 1st * repeat from * to * around
Round R6 finish with an invisible join.

R7: ch1, 1hds in each st around, close the row with a slip stitch

R9: ch1, TURN! 1sc 3rd loop in each st around

the inner side of the basket – work in spiral rounds

R10 - R17: 1sc in each st around

Round R17 finish with an invisible join.

FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS

Fold the top half of the basket down into the center to create a double-layered side. You will have the half doubles round of 3rd loops at the top of the basket, and down inside, the last round of single crochets should be touching the wooden base. You may would need to add or remove a round or two of single crochets to achieve the wooden lid.

Cut the yarn, weave in the ends.
