So let me now get started and tell you what you will need in order to crochet this OWL BASKET.
The pattern was made with yarns: SpagoYarn Chain, 500g / 85m, 85% cotton, 15% polyester, 6mm, https://www.vlnika.cz/z17500-prize-chain
SpagoYarn Chain is quite strong braided twine cotton yarn, very pleasant and very soft.
This yarn is perfect for crocheting accessories, home decorations, wall hangings, also for baskets, handbags and bags.
For this pattern you will need 8.00 mm crochet hook.
Scissors
Sewing/Embroidery and yarn needle/tapestry needle
CROCHET OWL BASKET
Size: one size
Difficulty Level: Level 1 – Easy, for beginners
US crochet terms:
SlSt – slip stitch
CH/s – chain/s
SC - single crochet
HDC - half double crochet
DC - double crochet
SK - skip
T - turn
ST/s - stitch(es)
REP – repeat
This pattern requires familiarity with stitches used and using invisible join when you work in closed rounds.
CROCHET OWL BASKET
PATTERN NOTES
1) A ch1 at beg of the row DOESN'T count as a stitch
2) Continuous rounds - this basket is worked up in continuous rounds, which means that you will not be joining the last stitch of the round with the first one. Instead you will need to keep track of where each round started and how many stitches you have made because after each round you will continue right on to the stitches of the next round (with no join). It is useful to use a stitch marker or piece of yarn to mark the start or end of each round.
3) Invisible Join - I would recommend you to close the rounds with an invisible join to have a perfect basket.
4) ( ) – The number of stitches that should be in a completed round/row are placed in brackets at the end of that round’s/row’s instructions.
5) This CROCHET BASKET is worked up as a one piece, starting from the bottom to top and then top down to the bottom.
length: 15 mm
HOW TO CROCHET OWL BASKET
WRITTEN PATTERN
Crochet hook 8.0 mm
Make a magic ring
R1: ch1, 6sc in magic ring
R2: 2sc in each st around (12 sc)
R3: *2sc in next st, 1sc in next st* repeat from * to * around (18 sc)
R4: *2sc in next st 1sc in next 2st* repeat from * to * around (24 sc)
R5: *2sc in next st, 1sc in next 3st repeat from * to * around (30 sc)
R6-R8 (3rows): 1sc in each st (30 sc)
R9: *1sc in next 3st, sc2tog* repeat from * to * around (24 sc)
R10 - R13: 1sc in each st (24 sc)
R14: work 1sl st in next 12 st, 1hdc in next st, 1dc in next st, ch2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1hdc in next st, 1 sl st in next 6 st, 1hdc in next st, 1dc in next st, ch2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1hdc in next st, close the round with an invisible join
Cut the yarn, weave in the ends.
Eyes
Make a Magic ring
Eye 1
R1: ch1, 3sc, 3hdc, 2dc in magic ring, close the round with an invisible join
Eye 2
R1: ch2, 2dc, 3hdc, 3sc in magic ring, close the round with an invisible join
Cut the yarn, leave a longer tail for sewing the eye on the head.
Sew the eyes on the body and embroider the nose between eyes.
