Fall-Colored Men's Crochet Beanie in Moss Stitch Pattern
Beautiful day to everyone!
Do you enjoy crocheting hats? And do you crochet hats for your better halves? If so, I have a fantastic pattern for you today—a men’s beanie in warm fall tones.
This beanie has a simple shape and is crocheted top-down in spiral rounds.
With an easy combination of single crochet stitches and chain stitches (the moss stitch), it’s a fun, quick project, and your beanie will be ready in no time!
By request, I used Red Heart FALL yarn, and once again, I loved how pleasant it was to work with and how beautifully it patterns.
Today, we’ll be working on a men’s size beanie, but as you’ll see in the pattern, it can easily be adjusted for a smaller women’s, teen, or even child’s size. This beanie is great for spring, fall, and milder winter days.
There’s no complicated shaping in this pattern; it’s crocheted top-down as one piece.
I chose the simple moss stitch, which is beginner-friendly. Excited for an awesome beanie? Let’s jump right in and get started!

CROCHETED FALL-COLORED MEN'S BEANIE WITH MOSS STITCH - INSTRUCTIONS
This crochet beanie, made with single crochets and chain stitches, has an excellent fit! I loved working with the color gradients and transitions, and I hope you’ll enjoy this pattern just as much!

Red Heart Super Saver FALL
4 Medium Acrylic Yarn, Fall, 142g, 215 m / 236 Yards

**Tools:**
5.0 mm crochet hook, yarn needle for weaving in ends, stitch marker, and scissors.
**Skill Level:**
Level 1 - Beginner-Friendly
1 ball is perfect for one HAT.
US crochet terms:
SlSt – slip stitch
CH/s – chain/s
CHSP - chain space
SC - single crochet
BLO – back loop only
FLO – front loop only
SK - skip
T - turn
ST/s - stitch(es)
REP - repeat
YO – yarn over
CROCHETED FALL-COLORED MEN'S BEANIE WITH MOSS STITCH - PATTERN NOTES
1) Before starting, decide on the desired height for the beanie and measure the head circumference for a good fit.
2) The pattern below is designed for MEN'S sizing, but you can easily adjust it to your preferred size by adding or reducing the number of stitches and rows. Note that a larger size will require more yarn than stated above.
3) MEN'S SIZE MEASUREMENTS:
- Head Circumference: 60 cm
- Crown Diameter: 22 cm
- Beanie Circumference: 56 cm
- Body of Beanie: 19 cm
- Ribbing: 3 cm
- Total Beanie Height: 22 cm
4) The beanie is crocheted as one piece in rows, working from the top down.
5) The ch 1 at the start of each row does not count as a stitch.
6) The beanie is worked in spiral rounds, so do not join at the end of each round with a slip stitch.
7) Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate the stitch count at the end of each completed row.
8) Instructions between asterisks ** mean the pattern repeats.
9) Note: The measurements are taken with the beanie laid flat and unstretched on a smooth surface. It's best to measure on a table before stretching or adjusting to body contours.
10) It’s recommended to use a flexible measuring tape for accuracy instead of a rigid ruler.

- Finish each row by joining to the first stitch
R1: ch1, 6 sc, close round with a sl st in 1st st at beg
R2: ch1, *1 sc in 1st st , ch1, 1 sc in next chsp* repeat from * to * till end of round (12)
R3: (1 sc, ch1, 1 sc, ch1) in each chsp from previous round (24)
R4: *(1 sc, ch1, 1 sc, ch1) in chsp, (1 sc, ch1) in next chsp* repeat from * to * till end of round (36)
R5: *(1 sc, ch1, 1 sc, ch1) in chsp, (1 sc, ch1) in next 2 chsp* repeat from * to * till end of round (48)
R6: *(1 sc, ch1, 1 sc, ch1) in chsp, (1 sc, ch1) in next 3 chsp* repeat from * to * till end of round (60)
R7: (1 sc, ch1) in each chsp from previous round

Cut the yarn, weave in the ends.
