Hello My Crochet Friends!

The weather is warming and warming in Central Europe! I made my first paper yarn HAT - I am so excited! It is a chic accessory for sunny days in the City and at the beach as well! The hat is so airy and lightweight and breezy for when that sun is beaming down on you.

You would love to try the paper yarn HAT and wear it! 

The hat has a super simple pattern, classic shape and style, I prepared the instructions for a women size. The size can be adjusted very well and easily to a larger or smaller girl's or women's size.

The patter is perfect for very beginners. 

The hat is crocheted with the paper yarn: TIPA from Vlnika.

I choose a beautiful red color - it remains me red poppy in grains. There are many different color versions to choose from, according to your taste.

CROCHET SUN PAPER YARN HAT RIPA 

So let me now get started and tell you what you will need in order to crochet this perfect sun PAPER hat!

This sun PAPER hat is crocheted with single crochets and chains only.

The CROCHET SUN PAPER YARN HAT RIPA has a simple construction, crocheted in spiral rounds as one piece from top down.

50 g / 80 m / 100 % paper 

For HAT WOMEN SIZE: 2 balls  

Size: this can easily be adapted to a smaller size or bigger size just by reducing or increasing the number of stitches in the first row and as well as making less or more rows for the summer hat.

 

 

 

 

Recommended Hook: 4.5 mm

Colors: one color

I originally designed this hat for women size, I wanted it to be very open, very lightweight and airy! Moreover the hat so comfortable to wear in the heat.

The top is a very basic, easy single crochets pattern and it has a lacy brim! The brim is to keep the sun out of your eyes.

The hat is beginner friendly – holding the perfect shape without the help of wires, starch, or glue. 
I’m so happy and so excited to work with paper yarn and to share that I found a way to create the perfect PAPER HAT! 

Everybody will love the PAPER HAT as much as I do!

Difficulty Level: Level 1 – very easy for ultimate beginners  

US crochet term:

CH/s – chain/s
SC – simple crochet
SK - skip
T - turn

Pattern Notes

1) This pattern below is for woman size, the hat can be easily adapted to a smaller size or bigger size just by reducing or increasing the numbers of stitches and as well as less or more numbers of rows. Remember that when making bigger hat size, you will need more yarn.

WOMEN Size:
Head measurement: 21.8 inch / 56 cm 
Hat measurement: 22 inch / 57 cm
Hat crown size: 7.5 inch / 19 cm
Hat height size: 7.5 inch / 19 cm 
Brim: 2.1 inch / 5.5 cm 

*Measurements are taken from the garment lying flat, before the yarn has stretched out/dropped.

2) This Pattern is worked in spiral rounds and in joined rounds, crocheted from the top down using single crochets.

3) A Ch1 / a ch2 at beg of the row doesn't count as a stitch

4) On every round with single crochets work in spiral rounds, don’t closed round with slip stitch

6) The hat is symmetrical.

7) The entire hat is only one piece as its crocheted in the rounds and there isn’t any extra seaming to join the hat together. 

8) Instructions between two asterisks should be repeated for the remainder of the round

CROCHET PERFECT SUN HAT WITH PAPER YARN TIPA 

Make a magic ring.

Work in spiral rounds.

R1: ch1, 6 sc in magic ring (6 sc)

R2: 2sc in each st (12 sc)

R3: *2sc in next st, 1sc in next st* repeat from * to * till end of round (18 sc) 

R4: *2sc in next st, 1sc in 2 next st* repeat from * to * till end of round (24 sc) 

R5: *2sc in next st, 1sc in 3 next st* repeat from * to * till end of round (30 sc) 

R6: *2sc in next st, 1sc in 4 next st* repeat from * to * till end of round (36 sc) 

R7: *2sc in next st, 1sc in 5 next st* repeat from * to * till end of round (42 sc) 

R8: *2sc in next st, 1sc in 6 next st* repeat from * to * till end of round (48 sc) 

R9: *2sc in next st, 1sc in 7 next st* repeat from * to * till end of round (54 sc) 

R10: *2sc in next st, 1sc in 8 next st* repeat from * to * till end of round (60 sc) 

R11: *2sc in next st, 1sc in 9 next st* repeat from * to * till end of round (66 sc) 

For bigger sizes: continue like this until there are 72-78-84 single crochet on round (work 1 single crochet more between every increase for every round and increase 6 single crochet per round).

Increase by 6 stitches evenly in each round.

R12: *1sc in next st, ch1, skip 1st* repeat from * to * till end of round 

R13: *1sc in next sc, ch1, přes ch1* repeat from * to * till end of round 

R14 - R19: repeat R13

Crochet till you have a hat long enough, the length about 18 cm.

R20: *1sc in next sc, 2sc in ch1sp* repeat from * to * till end of round 

R21: *1sc in next st, ch1, skip 1st* repeat from * to * till end of round 

R22: *1sc in next sc, ch1, skip ch1* repeat from * to * till end of round 

R22: *1sc in next sc, ch2, skip ch1* repeat from * to * till end of round 

R23 - R24: Repeat round R22

Cut the yarn. Fasten off.

Add flair to suit your style to really personalize this piece, or leave it as is! With this design being so simple, one of my favorite things about it is how I can accessorize it in all sorts of ways. You can make a crochet chain to tie around it, add a hat band from another hat you have, or wrap a bandana or headband around it! I love to tie a white ribbon around the crown.
