Crocheted EASY striped Margita vest with V-pattern

2025-03-11

Hello My Crochet Friends! Beautiful day everyone!

Do you like to crochet vests? I like all kinds of vests, the maxi ones almost to the ankles and the short ones to the waist. Today I have a pattern for a crocheted vest that you can easily crochet in any length and width, according to your taste.

img_6052.jpeg

The vest has a simple v-stitch pattern, which is airy, making the vest pleasantly fluffy. The v-stitch pattern is easy and quickly memorable. If you are just starting with crocheting, I believe that this pattern will go nicely from your hand.

img_0160.jpeg

For this vest, I chose the Margita yarn, which has distinctive color transitions and I used them as natural stripes on the vest. I chose vertical stripes to visually lengthen the figure.

I chose a cut that is easily adaptable to different sizes. There is no complicated shaping in the pattern. The vest consists of 2 large rectangles, sewn together in the front in the middle into a V-neck and in the back in the middle also into a smaller V-neck.

This vest is crocheted for women's size L/XL and for the sides I chose to tie with crocheted strings. The sides would also be nice to fasten with buttons or simply sew them together, as you like.

Are you looking forward to the striped vest with a v-stitch pattern? Then let's get straight to work!

The pattern is again free and supplemented with a video tutorial.

NOTES ON THE PATTERN

1. Before you start crocheting, I recommend choosing the length you want the vest to be - measure the chest circumference.

2. The pattern below is for WOMEN'S size XL / L, you can easily adjust it to your exact size by adding or subtracting the number of stitches and the number of rows, remember that for a larger size more yarn will be needed than stated above.

WOMEN'S SIZE

Vest length: 70 cm

Vest width: 60 cm

Rectangle size: 30 cm x 140 cm

3. The vest is crocheted as 2 identical pieces, the same size rectangles, in rows back and forth. One piece forms half of the front and half of the back, so half of the whole piece "sits" on the shoulder.

4. 3ch at the beginning of the row serves as a substitute for a double crochet.

5. The vest is crocheted in rows, with a V-pattern.

6. Instructions between two asterisks mean that the pattern repeats.

WOMAN SIZE

WRITTEN PATTERN

Before you start crocheting, measure the size – chest circumference, divide it by 2 and that will be the width of the crocheted piece.

Next, measure the length – whether you want the vest to be at the waist, over the hips, to the knees, etc. Multiply this length by 2.

The vest is crocheted for women's L/XL size. First, crochet a flexible chain with single crochets. Or you can crochet a chain and single crochets in the next row.

sni--mek-obrazovky-2025-03-07-v--14.47.22.jpeg

R1: the number of single crochets is a multiple of 4 + 2 for size L/XL I crocheted 162 stitches, turn

R2: 3ch (dc), skip 2 sts, *v-stitch (dc, 2ch, dc), skip 3 sts*, repeat from * to * to the end of the row, in the last st crochet 1 dc, turn

On my vest, I got 40 v-stitches.

R3: 3ch (dc), *v-stitch (dc, 2ch, dc) into the v-stitch from the previous row*, repeat from * to * to the end of the row, in the last st crochet 1 dc, turn

Repeat row R3 until you are satisfied with the width of the vest.

I crocheted 15 rows.

Last row: 2ch (hdc), *1hdc into dc, 2hdc into 2ch sp, 1hdc into dc* repeat from * to * to the end of the row, in the last st crochet 1 hdc.

Rectangle dimensions: width 30 cm, length 140 cm

sni--mek-obrazovky-2025-03-07-v--14.48.20.jpeg

Note: the size is measured when laying and aligning the fabric on a flat surface (you can measure, for example, on a table), before the fabric stretches or tightens according to body circumferences.

FINISHING AND SEWING:

Cut the yarn and leave a longer end for sewing.

I use a classic needle with a larger eye.

Sew the front piece – I sewed a length of 13 v-stitches, stitch to stitch. Sew on the wrong side. Sew the back piece – I sewed a length of 17 v-stitches, stitch to stitch. Sew on the wrong side. Cut the yarn and weave in the loose end.

img_6114.jpeg

Dimensions: neckline on the front side 30 cm, neckline on the back side: 15 cm

Weave in all loose ends into the inside.

You can sew the side seams, sew on buttons for fastening, or crochet strings for tying.
