Make 4 squares.
Join squares
With your yarn and hook you will now join the squares together, making sure they are WRONG sides together.
Remember not to make your stitches too tight and not too loose.
Start in the right corner of the front square and work from bottom to neck edge.
Start in corner ch3sp (between 2 4dc groups):
1 sl st to join front square (1) and right shoulder square (2) corners.
Then: 1sl st in each st till you reach the next corners
Once you have assembled 1 (front square) and 2 (right shoulder square) squares together and it is time to repeat the same for 1 (front square) and 3 (left shoulder square), putting wrong sides together and repeat the instruction above to crochet the squares together.
Making sure that when you are done your work will be joined and lay out like the pic above.
Now it is time to turn these 3 squares into your poncho by adding the 4th square (back square)
Keeping your work wrong side facing you, you will take and fold in half square 2 (right shoulder) and 3 (left shoulder).
You will crochet the same as you did for the other squares assembling 3 with 4 and 2 with 4.
Making sure wrong sides are facing you, join them the same way you joined the first 3 squares.
Now that your poncho is assembled you will hide all loose tails in the wrong side of your work and turn it right side facing you.
You will now work on the neck opening.
Make a neck opening:
With the right sides facing you, with your hook and yarn join with a slip knot to the front V corner of the neck opening. Join at the bottom of the V neck = start in the corner:
ch1 (1sc), sk 2st, ch3, *1sc in next st, sk 2st, ch3* repeat from * to * next corner, work 1sc in V corner on the back side, sk 2st, ch3, *1sc in next st, sk 2st, ch3* repeat from * to * the first V corner on the front side. Close the round with sl st on the top of 1st st at the beg of round.
Make an edge around the bottom of poncho:
With the right sides facing you, with your hook and yarn join with a slip knot to any corner. Work a finishing edge around the bottom of poncho.
Work in closed rounds. Finish round with 1 slip stitch on the top of the fist st / the first cluster.
Replace first 2tr-cluster on round with 4 chain stitches and 1 treble joined together.
Replace first 2dc-cluster on round with 3 chain stitches and 1 treble joined together.
Replace first double crochet cluster on round with 3 chain stitches and finish round with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch.
