Crochet Valentine's Day Heart Bubble stitch Bag or Soft Heart Pillow
Hello My Crochet Friends!
In January and February, there were a lot of birthdays in my family and of friends around me, so I made crocheted velvet heart gift bags for gifts for them.
Various goodies, sweets or perhaps a voucher for the theater or a massage can be put in the heart-shaped gift bag. And in addition, your loved ones will have a bag for further use.
You can also make heart-shaped gift bags from leftover yarn, which makes a great use of accumulated balls.
I chose velvet yarn Samet soft fine for crocheting and used about two-thirds of the ball for one bag.
I chose a beautiful bubble stitch pattern and the heart has such an interesting embossed look.
You can adjust the size of the heart to be larger or smaller. I also thought about a big heart, which would be like a wonderful soft pillow.
This tutorial is suitable for more experienced beginners who can handle the bubble stitch pattern - it repeats 2 rows of single and doble crochet stitches. Everything is shown in detail in the video tutorial and I believe that you will soon master the bubble stitch pattern and even those who are new to crocheting can make this cute bubble heart.
This cute CROCHET BUBBLE STITCH BAG could be also great as a Valentine's day gift bag. It will surely bring smile to all your recipient’s faces.
Have fun crocheting and gifting your loved ones.
So let me get to this beautiful velvet bubble project for you.

Samet Soft Fine: 1 skein = 100 % polyester, 100g / 100 m
5.0 mm crochet hook
Optionally: Stuffings
Scissors
Sewing/Embroidery and yarn needle/tapestry needle for sewing pieces together and weaving in ends
Pins
Difficulty Level: Level 2 – For advanced beginners
US crochet terms:
SlSt – slip stitch
CH/s – chain/s
SC - single crochet
DC - half double crochet
SK - skip
T - turn
ST/s - stitch(es)
REP – repeat
SC2TOG = 2 single crochets together
Special stitches used:
Single Crochet Decrease (sc2tog)
A crochet decrease makes the current row or round that you are working on shorter than the one previous to it.
1. Insert hook into the first stitch.
2. Yarn over and draw through the loop.
3. Do not complete the stitch as normal.
4. Instead, insert the hook into the next stitch.
5. Yarn over and draw through the loop.
6. There should now be three loops on your hook
7. Yarn over and draw through all three loops on the hook
8. You should now have two single crochet stitches side-by-side, joined together into one stitch at the top.
Special stitches:
BUBBLE STITCH
When crocheting the bubble stitch, we are pulling up a series of loops that we will then pull through all at once. Since the bubbles are worked on the “wrong” side of the work, this makes the stitch puff out on the opposite side of the work, making it into a little “bubble”.
1. Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through two. (This is essentially completing the first half of one double crochet stitch.)
2. Repeat step 1 in the same stitch/space until you have a total of 5 loops on your hook.
3. Yarn over, pull through all 5 loops at once.
4. Single crochet in next stitch.
This pattern requires familiarity with stitches used, attaching yarn, sewing parts together with a sewing needle.
CROCHET HEART BUBBLE STITCH GIFT BAG
PATTERN NOTES
1) A ch1 at beg of the row DOESN'T count as a stitch
2) A ch2 at beg counts as a stich, ch2 = double crochet
3) Work in rows - which means that you will not turn your work, when you finish the row and ch1 or ch2. Once you finish the single crochet row, make a row with bubble stitch.
4) ( ) – The number of stitches that should be in a completed round/row are placed in brackets at the end of that round’s/row’s instructions.
5) This CROCHET HEART BUBBLE STITCH GIFT BAG measures:
27 cm / 10.5 inch tall
19 cm / 7,5 inch wide
The finished size will depend on what yarn you use, as well as your tension and hook (as with any amigurumi).
6) CROCHET HEART BUBBLE STITCH GIFT BAG is made with 2 parts:
front panel with bubbles
back panel with or without bubbles
7) You can make the CROCHET HEART BUBBLE STITCH GIFT BAG bigger with a thicker yarn or a larger hook size.
8) There is some sewing: you will sew the front and back part of the HEART together. This is easy to do, there are no tricks.
